FASzio YOGA training

The fundamental goal of yoga is both spiritual freedom and physical vitality. FASZIO® YOGA fuses familiar yoga postures, asanas, pranayama and meditation practices of varying yoga styles and traditions with the 7 FASZIO® training strategies. The goal is to achieve a stronger spiritual freedom and physical vitality. FASZIO® YOGA basics training examines asanas and their impact on the body, the vegetative nervous system and our state of mind.

FASZIO® YOGA basics training is carried out in the context of traditional yoga, the 7 FASZIO® strategies and the 5 fascial guideline by FASZIO®. FASZIO® YOGA basics training utilizes practice sequences, developed during training, to help convey a new, deeper understanding of yogic movement. In general, the training helps balance the body’s vegetative nervous system. This positively influences emotions, granting the body more ease, while increasing range of motion and elasticity. Ultimately, FASZIO® YOGA basics training stimulates deep healing throughout the entire body.

Part 1

The fascia can be understood as a large pervasive network of tissue, enveloping and penetrating deep within the human body. Firm yet flexible, the fascia help stabilize the body. The fascia also serve as the body’s personal injury prevention service. FASZIO® is a movement concept, utilizing 7 strategies that promote limberness, mobility, strength and stability. Part 1 of this training will convey fascial theory in an easy to understand manner. The 7 FASZIO® strategies will then be presented and the 5 fascial guideline by FASZIO® concept examined. Part 1 aims to inspire participants to rethink and/or refine their own understanding of movement. Participants will engage with new ideas, such as the structuring of yoga classes in a fascia-friendly manner.

 Part 2

Part 2 expands upon previously conveyed fascial theory. It deepens the participant’s understanding of the relationship between fascia and yoga. Through practical exercises, participants experience firsthand an enrichment in bodily awareness. Furthermore, the anatomic-functional alignment of the body will be explored. Special attention will also be paid to the 5 fascial guideline by FASZIO®. The training module ends with a supervised portion, in place to ensure that participants understand and are able to implement the 7 FASZIO® training strategies in a yogic context. Ultimately, participants develop the competence to professionally and independently apply their newly gained fascial expertise in their own yoga classes. The successful completion of the training authorizes participants to teach FASZIO® YOGA.

TEACHER - Miriam Wessel

Movement is my passion. I have been researching the area of movement for many years now, driven by the philosophy that, “When you know what you’re doing, you can do what you want;” a motto that lies close to my heart.

Having worked over the years as a fitness trainer, trainer consultant and DTB trainer, I offer my clients a plethora of knowledge and experience in the area of health-fitness. Myself sport-health enthusiast, I take great pride and joy in the development of new and creative movement concepts; concepts such as »Belly-Yoga«, »Mama fit – Baby mit!« (Training for Mother and baby),  »YogaDancing«, »ASANADANCE«, »Mantra Moves« and my latest innovation »FASZIO®«.

For over 15 years, I have also pursued writing as freelance author, publishing an array of fitness-health articles and books with topics ranging from yoga and pregnancy to fascia and pelvic floor training. I approach my work with a holistic mindset, combining thoroughly researched information with carefully constructed exercises.

I feel passionated about holistic fitness, but more specifically, about fascia. Fascia is especially intriguing to me because it was one of my first topics of research. One could say that fascia has quite literally been with me from the beginning. A perpetually developing endeavor, my pursuit of fascia has over the years filled me with a spirit of discovery. This is due to the many present-day multidisciplinary researchers dedicated to the study of fascia, whose scientific contributions continue to increase my full understanding of the fascial tissue. Lightyears ahead of where I began, scientific understanding of the body’s fascial network continues to grow. What I have is a collection of proven facts and some (still) unproven assumptions, but what unites us all, is our persistent quest for knowledge.

The understanding of fascial structures requires us to rethink the usual and approach the unusual. From experience, I have learned to keep pushing because the journey tends to be well worth the effort!
